Rachel and Pierluigi's Wedding

The church we got married in is the Basilica dei Santi Cosma e Damiano, in the Roman Forum between the Coliseum and Piazza Venezia (marked by the white monument to Vittorio Emanuele, in the exact center of Rome). The Basilica's origins as a pagan temple date to Fourth Century A.D., and it has undergone multiple transformations throughout the ages. We chose this church from the many historical ones available that day for its medium size, its archeological interest, the unique and particular beauty of its interior, and most of all, for its proximity to the Forums and the best known monuments of Rome. The weather was perfect that day--a blue sky formed the background to St. Peter's Basilica, Castel Sant'Angelo, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Piazza Venezia, Trajan's Column, and the Coliseum, all of which were in view on our way to the Basilica.
